Sheila (pronouns: she/her) is a Licensed Social Worker. She believes deeply in the potential for healing when people feel safe to be vulnerable in trusting relationships. Sheila hopes to collaborate with others to transform painful experiences into generative opportunities for growth so that we can create the lives we want to live.
A queer South Asian American woman, Sheila is attuned to the complexity of navigating differences in culture, race, sexuality, religion, class, politics, and more in families and relationships. She utilizes a feminist anti-oppressive framework to partner with individuals and couples as they navigate conflict and seek better self-understanding.
Sheila also draws upon a range of modalities like mindfulness, family systems, and cognitive-behavioral strategies to support individuals dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, and abusive relationships. She is attuned to the connection between the mind, body, and spirit and incorporates trauma-responsive integrative healing approaches to help people accept and work with their emotions.
Prior to joining Nosh Family Therapy, Sheila worked with adult and child survivors of violence at an immigrant-led domestic violence organization. Sheila received her Masters of Social Work from the University of Chicago, where she is currently pursuing a PhD.
She is supervised by Cary Klemmer, LCSW and Shipra Parikh, LCSW.
