Briana Heneghan, AMFT

THERAPIST

Briana (pronouns: She/Her) is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. Briana works from a trauma informed, humanistic lens. She is trained as an Integrative Systemic Therapist with an emphasis on familial and intimate relational work. She pulls from a variety of therapeutic models and theories to best serve her clients, but does favor Narrative, Emotion-Focused, and Internal Family Systems theories. She has been trained to think systemically even for individual clients, as people are always operating within a larger contextual system which drives their lived experience, decisions, and paths.

Briana attempts to appropriately use humor when situations allow for it, and compassion, empathy, and warmth always. Briana’s clinical interests include individuals, couples, work-life balance, career-changing, family of origin issues, women’s issues, men’s Issues, LGBTQIA+ issues, body image/disordered eating, money/finance related issues, grief and loss, adult children and parent relationship issues, anxiety, and depression.

Before transitioning to a career in therapy, Briana worked in finance and accounting functions at various corporate settings, and she currently works part-time at a boutique gym providing group fitness classes and personal training. Briana received her Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from The Family Institute at Northwestern University and received both a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Loyola University Chicago.

She is supervised by Cindy Sigal, LMFT.
